The Billy Hurley III Scholarship is awarded to children or spouses of USS Chung-Hoon or USS Gettysburg Navy crew members. Students who have participated in extracurricular activities and demonstrate character are welcome to apply.

Requirements

Child or spouse of a U.S. Navy sailor who is on active duty, retired, or honorably discharged

Service member must have a Surface Warfare qualification, served 6 years on active duty under the administrative control of Commander Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Atlantic or Pacific Fleet, and have served on the USS ChungHoon (DDG-93) or the USS Gettysburg (CG-64) for at least one year

Seeking an associate or bachelor's degree (spouses may also be seeking a graduate degree)

Children must be aged 22 or younger

Children must be enrolled full time; spouses may be full or part-time

Exhibit merit through academic performance and character

Participate in extracurricular activities

Demonstrate financial need
