The CIF Spirit of Sport Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school student-athletes in California who display good sportsmanship and plan to attend college.

Requirements
  • This program is open to high school student-athletes in California who display good sportsmanship and school leadership, regardless of athletic ability.
  • Students must submit an application to their principal or counselor that contains 1) a list of accomplishments during high school years, including nonathletic honors and awards received; 2) at least 2 letters of support citing specific examples of "Pursuing Victory with Honor;" 3) and a 500-word essay on such topics as their definition of the term "Spirit of Sport" and how they exemplify it in everyday life on and off the athletic field, what sportsmanship means to them, and the life lessons they have learned through participation in athletics.
  • Based on those essays, school officials nominate students for these scholarships.
  • Males and females are judged separately.
