Col. Jim Raudebaugh Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of Georgia, especially children and grandchildren of members of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), who are interested in studying a field related to solid waste at a college in any state.

Requirements
  • This program is open to residents of Georgia who are 1) high school seniors or graduate-certified candidates who have been accepted at a 2- or 4-year college or university in any state; or 2) current full-time undergraduate or graduate students working on a degree in environmental science, engineering or other suitable major related to solid waste management at a college or university in any state.
  • Applicants must submit a short statement of their financial need and a 1page essay on their views on solid waste management, what it is, who participates, the current issues facing the profession, and their thoughts on its future direction.
  • Selection is based on the essay (20%); academics, including GPA, ACT and/or SAT scores, academic achievement honors and awards (40%); community activities (20%); and extracurricular activities (20%).
  • An additional 10% is added for children of SWANA members and an additional 5% is added for applicants recommended by a SWANA member.
