About the Scholarship

The Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF) furthers education in the solid waste management industry by awarding scholarships to students pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in solid waste management. EREF defines solid waste management to pertain to municipal solid waste, construction and demolition waste, industrial waste (e.g. coal ash), and WTE ash, for example. This definition does not include agricultural wastes or wastewater treatment plant sludge. Scholarship awards are based on academic performance, professional experience, the relevance of one’s work to the advancement of solid waste management science, and the potential for success.
