Green to Gold Scholarship provides scholarships and other payments to soldiers who wish to obtain an early discharge from the Army and return to college to participate in the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC).

Requirements

This program is open to enlisted soldiers who are younger than 31 years of age and have served at least 2 years on active duty plus 3 months of active duty for each month of specialized training.

Applicants must have a cumulative high school or college GPA of 2.5 or higher, scores of at least 1000 on the SAT or 19 on the ACT, a General Technical (GT) score of 110 or higher, and a recent (within the past 6 months) Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) score of 180 or higher (including 60 points in each event).

They may have no more than 3 dependents including a spouse (that requirement may be waived) and must be under 31 years of age when they graduate and are commissioned.

They must have been accepted at a college or university offering Army ROTC. U.S. citizenship is required.

Upon graduation from college, scholarship winners are commissioned as second lieutenants and are required to serve in the military for 8 years. That obligation may be fulfilled by serving 4 years on active duty followed by 4 years in the Inactive Ready Reserve (IRR).
