Guy DeRosa Safety in Schools Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students affiliated with the California Teachers Association (CTA) who are enrolled in a teacher/counseling credential program and are committed to benefitting the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) community.

Requirements

This program is open to members of the CTA, members of the Student California Teachers Association (SCTA), and public school students sponsored by an active CTA or SCTA member.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a teacher/counseling credential program in California to prepare for a career in public education.

They must submit an essay that addresses 1 or more of the following topics: making the environment safe for GLBT students, their past or intended involvement in making the environment safe for GLBT students, the importance of GLBT role models, and/or the importance of role models for GLBT ethnic minorities.
