The Miguel Cabrera Family Scholarship is offered to high school graduates from Florida and Michigan. First-generation college students, or historically underrepresented students pursuing a degree in the U.S. or Puerto Rico are encouraged to apply. Special consideration is given to students from Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, Livingston, and St. Clair counties, in Michigan, or Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties in Florida.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2.50 GPA
  • Resident of Florida or Michigan
  • Graduate of a high school
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree fulltime
  • Attending a college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
  • Historically underserved population **OR**
  • Firstgeneration college student
  • Demonstrate good academic achievement Employees and their dependents of the Detroit Tigers Foundation, employees/dependents and directors of the Miguel Cabrera Foundation, dependents of Miguel and Rosangel Cabrera, and lineal descendants of Miguel and Rosangel Cabrera's grandparents as well as employees and their dependents of the foundation are ineligible for this scholarship. Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need and are from MiamiDade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties in Florida, or Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, Livingston, and St. Clair counties in Michigan.
