William C. Johnson Distinguished Scholarship provides financial assistance to undergraduate and graduate student members of Sigma Tau Delta (the international English honor society) who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.

Requirements

This program is open to members of the society who are currently enrolled full-time as undergraduate or graduate students.

Each chapter may nominate 3 active members for this scholarship.

Nominees must explain the relevance of their program of study to fostering the discipline of English, including literature, language, writing, and literacy.

They must also submit a sample paper they originally presented as coursework with endorsement from the professor for whom the paper was written.

In the selection process, emphasis is placed on academic excellence and service to the campus, community, and chapter; financial need is not considered.
