Requirements
  • This program is open to students at colleges and universities in any state who are working full-time on an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree.
  • Applicants must be residents of any state, but preference is given to those from Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington.
  • They do not need to come from underdeveloped or economically disadvantaged communities, but they must be able to demonstrate a commitment to service, and special consideration is given to applicants whose service has benefited people in such communities either within or outside the United States.
  • Eligible fields of study include civil, environmental, or bioresources engineering; environmental law; water and/or wastewater operations; or laboratory analyses.
  • Applications in mechanical, chemical, structural, or other engineering or technical disciplines and environmental prelaw are considered on a case-by-case basis, provided applicants demonstrate how their field of study and career plans relate to the water environment.
  • In the selection process, consideration is given to academic potential, demonstrated commitment to service, and career objectives.
