Requirements

This program is open to college-bound seniors graduating from high schools in the Anchorage area of Alaska and students already enrolled full-time as undergraduate or graduate students at an accredited college, university, or vocational/trade school in any state.

Applicants must be the child or spouse of 1) an activeduty military servicemember assigned to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER); 2) an active Guard or Reserve component service member assigned to a unit on JBER; 3) a Department of the Army or Department of Defense civilian employed at JBER; 4) a retired military servicemember residing in the Municipality of Anchorage or the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, or 5) a dependent of a deceased military member whose last duty station was JBER. Along with their application, they must submit an essay of 1 to 2 pages on a topic that changes annually; recently, students were asked to describe a place or environment where they are perfectly content, what they experience there, and why it is meaningful to them.
