The Grant Program for Exonerees supports the educational goals of Illinois residents who have been exonerated. Residents who have received a pardon from the Illinois Governor or a certificate of innocence from a circuit court, who are currently pursuing either their high school equivalency certificate or a certificate/degree from a public institution in Illinois are eligible to apply. Recipients are chosen for their compliance with the program expectations.

  • Currently enrolled in a public college or community college in Illinois, AND; Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree

  • Exonerated person who has received a pardon from the Illinois Governor or certificate of innocence from a circuit court
