Moose Youth Awareness Award recognizes and rewards, with college scholarships, high school students who deliver talks to children about current issues.

Requirements

This competition is open to U.S. and Canadian high school students who develop brief talks to deliver to groups of children 4 to 9 years of age whom they identify in their community.

The talks must deal with such current issues as drug and alcohol abuse, child abuse, "stranger danger," bullying and peer pressure, and healthy habits and nutrition.

Students must make at least 3 talks in their community and submit written reports on their presentations.

School officials select 2 participating students to attend a local student congress; selection is based on academic ability and leadership qualities.

At those congresses, participants present their talks to fellow students, and 60 of them are selected by their peers to attend the International Student Congress.

At that Congress, participating students vote to select the winners of the scholarships.
