Requirements

This program is open to residents of Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania who qualify in 3 categories: 1) entering or continuing students seeking a college degree in a marine, maritime, engineering, naval architecture, transportation, or logistics program; 2) mariners who wish to enroll in a program of United States Coast Guard required training for an original (not renewal) credential, license, or upgrade; or 3) professionals in marine, maritime, and port-related areas interested in attending a certificated professional development course.

Applicants for all categories must submit essays on the following questions: 1) the event or individual who influenced them to seek an education or career in the marine/maritime/transportation/logistics field; 2) their intended plans upon completion of their course of study, and 3) the recommendation they would give to a young person who asked them about their education or career choice.

A letter of recommendation from a teacher or employer is required.

A letter of recommendation from a member of the Ports of Philadelphia Maritime Society (POPMS) is recommended but not required.
