Requirements

This program is open to students who are of south Asian descent (including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka) or demonstrate a keen interest in covering south Asia or the diaspora.

Applicants must be serious about preparing for a journalism career and must provide evidence they plan to do so through courses, internships, or freelancing.

They must be entering or enrolled at a college or university in North America as undergraduate or graduate students.

Recipients are expected to give back to the South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) by volunteering at the annual convention or at other events during the year.
