South Carolina State Fair Equine Scholarship recognizes and rewards, with college scholarships, residents of South Carolina who participate in the Horse Show at the South Carolina State Fair.

Requirements
  • This competition is open to residents of South Carolina who are juniors or seniors in high school or students younger than 19 years of age and enrolled at a college or technical school in any state.
  • Applicants must exhibit at the South Carolina Fair Youth Horse Show.
  • They are evaluated on a scale for a maximum of 500 points, with up to 100 points in each category: 1) a resume submitted along with the application; 2) a 50question test of basic equine husbandry and knowledge; 3) an interview on various current events and major topics in today's horse world; 4) a demonstration of skills on a horse in showmanship, and 5) a demonstration of skills on a horse in equitation and horsemanship.
