The Estelle Martin Cartledge Memorial Scholarship program recognizes African American high school graduates who are seeking a bachelor's degree. Students who have 1 or more years of involvement (not including paid employment) in humanitarian service projects are encouraged to apply. Residents of the Mon Valley of Pennsylvania (Braddock, Duquesne, Homestead, Monongahela, North Braddock, Rankin, Turtle Creek, or West Mifflin) and students who attend Morning Star Baptist Church receive special consideration.

Requirements
  • High school graduate
  • Seeking a bachelor's degree at a 4year institution
  • Black or African American
  • Involvement in unpaid humanitarian service projects (at least a year)
  • Demonstrate a strong academic record Preference is given to residents of the Mon Valley of Pennsylvania (Braddock, Duquesne, Homestead, Monongahela, North Braddock, Rankin, Turtle Creek, or West Mifflin) and to students who attend Morning Star Baptist Church, Pennsylvania.
