The GIAR Grandmother's First-Generation Scholarship provides financial assistance to female residents of Hawaii and northern Nevada who are first-generation Americans and interested in attending college.

Requirements
  • This program is open to women under the age of 25 years who are of Portuguese, Mexican, Central American, or South American ancestry.
  • Applicants must be a firstgeneration American, defined as a young woman who has immigrated to the United States and become a naturalized citizen or the daughter of an immigrant of Portuguese, Mexican, Central American, or South American ancestry.
  • They must be residents of Hawaii or northern Nevada, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, be able to demonstrate financial need, and have been accepted at an accredited U.S. college or university.
