The Northern Virginia First Responders Scholarship is open to residents of northern Virginia. Applicants must have ties to their local police, fire, or EMT department as a professional, active volunteer, or dependent of a professional or active volunteer. High school seniors who are "active volunteer" first responders receive special consideration.

Requirements

Minimum 3.5 GPA for high school seniors

Resident of the Virginia cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas, or Manassas Park, or the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudon, Orange, or Prince William

Graduating senior who is an "active volunteer" within their local police, fire, or EMT department for at least 1 year, **or** professional or active volunteer first responder, **or** dependent of a professional or active volunteer first responder

Seeking a professional certification, associate or bachelor's degree

Participate in extracurricular activities

High moral character

Demonstrate financial need Preference is given to high school seniors who are "active volunteer" first responders.
