The Public Service Grant Program is available to students who have experienced the loss of a parent and/or spouse who is killed or missing in the line of public service duty in Massachusetts. Students who are planning to pursue a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree from a postsecondary institution in Massachusetts are welcome to apply.

Requirements
  • Child of a Massachusetts police officer, firefighter, or corrections officer who was killed or died from injuries received while performing his or her duties **or**
  • Spouse of a Massachusetts Police Officer, firefighter, or corrections officer who was killed or died from injuries received while performing his or her duties **or**
  • Child of POW/MIA military personnel **or**
  • Child of a veteran whose service was credited to the Commonwealth and who was killed in action or died as a result of such service
  • Resident of Massachusetts for one year prior to the start of the academic year
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree in Massachusetts as a fulltime student
  • U.S. citizen or noncitizen eligible under Title IV regulations
  • Not have received a prior bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
  • Compliant with Selective Service Registration
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Not be in default of any federal or state Student Loans for attendance at any institution or owe a refund for any previous financial aid received
