From the Institution

Farmingdale State College is selective, inclusive and thriving. FSC prepares students with the education, skills and critical thinking to meet tomorrow's challenges. While increasing selectivity, FSC has remained the largest of SUNY's colleges of technology with more than 9,300 students. Since its founding in 1912, FSC is an engine of opportunity for Long Island students to help prepare them to meet the demands of regional businesses and industry. Some unique offerings include the only 4-year Professional Pilot program in the state and the first bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene in the region. A survey of 2020-21 Farmingdale baccalaureate graduates found that within six months of graduation, 85% were working and/or continuing their education. A SUNY leader in applied learning, students have abundant experiential learning opportunities - internships, clinical training, and guided research - that provide practical instruction and personal growth through the Nexus Center for Applied Learning and Career Development. Small, personalized classes, residence halls with suite-style living, a lush 380-acre campus, and a highly successful NCAA Division III athletics program with renovated facilities make FSC one of the fastest-growing colleges in the region. Farmingdale offers 56 degree and certificate programs, and over 50 minors and micro-credentials to meet students' specific career goals and interests. In 2020, FSC received the 2020 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, a selective designation indicating an institutional commitment to community engagement. Farmingdale's Renewable Energy and Sustainability Center works to enhance public awareness of emerging renewable energy resources through applied research and workforce training in renewable/sustainable and smart grid technologies. The Smart Energy House serves as a demonstration site so families can experience living in a house that saves energy and money. Noteworthy facilities include the Aviation Center, Sustainable Garden, Smart Energy House, Solar Carport / Charging Station, Institute for Research & Technology Transfer, multiple science and design labs, and Technology-Enhanced Classrooms.
