Johnson & Wales University - an exceptional education that inspires professional success and lifelong personal and intellectual growth. Our progressive approach to learning dates back to our very beginning, when we were among the first postsecondary institutions founded by two women: Gertrude I. Johnson and Mary T. Wales. Since 1914, our goal has been for students to make the most of their learning experience, to bring out their potential and turn it into a career. We believe that open discussion is a valuable tool in sharing ideas and that hands-on learning out in the field better prepares students to thrive out in the world. This form of hands-on learning is known as "experiential education," and it's one of the cornerstones of the JWU experience.
