Founded in 1864, the University of Denver is the oldest private research university in the Rocky Mountain region that empowers students who want to make a difference. Recognized as a Very High Research University (or "R1") by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, DU offers more than 300 academic programs serving about 12,000 graduate and undergraduate students.
