Program Overview

The BigFuture Ambassador program provides you with an opportunity to practice leadership skills by building your school community’s awareness of BigFuture college planning resources, including BigFuture Scholarships. You’ll spread the word in your school about how to earn chances at BigFuture Scholarships by taking steps to get ready for college.

How to Get Involved

  • Any individual student can sign up to be a BigFuture Ambassador. You can work by yourself or recruit other students and start your own Ambassador club in your school to spread the word about BigFuture and other BigFuture resources.
  • Ambassadors identify and speak at 2-3 events to build awareness about BigFuture among students, families, and educators. (We provide you with virtual training and tools like these to help you out.)

How This Will Benefit You

As a BigFuture Ambassador in your school, you will:

  • Develop skills and experience in leadership, public speaking, organization, collaboration (with both peers and adults), marketing and service to others, which can help you stand out to colleges
  • Help more students at your school learn about how to qualify for BigFuture Scholarships by completing college planning steps
  • Meet and network with student leaders from around the country at virtual trainings for BigFuture Ambassadors

How We Will Support You

  • We offer virtual training sessions throughout the school year, beginning in October (BONUS: Any students who attend 4 or more events will be recognized as a Gold Leaf Ambassador).
  • After you take surveys to share how it’s going, we use what we learn to provide resources and strategies to help you connect your community with tools for college planning.
  • We send a monthly email with suggestions about what to emphasize that month to help your peers qualify for BigFuture Scholarships and complete college planning steps at just the right time.
  • We also equip you with PowerPoint presentations, flyers and other materials to help you talk about BigFuture Scholarships and other BigFuture resources.

College Board wants as many students as possible to earn scholarships through BigFuture Scholarships. Therefore, students unable to submit the FAFSA, such as undocumented students, can still qualify for each scholarship step.
