American Nuclear Society Washington, DC Section Local Section Undergraduate Scholarship provides financial assistance to upper-division students from the Washington, D.C. area who are interested in preparing for a career in nuclear science or nuclear engineering.

Requirements

This program is open to college juniors and seniors who have a home address within 100 miles of Washington, D.C. (as measured from the White House).

Applicants must be working on a degree in nuclear engineering, health physics, or a nuclearrelated field at an accredited institution in the United States.

They must be members of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) and sponsored by the faculty adviser of an ANS student chapter or an individual ANS member, but they may be citizens of any country.

Along with their essay, they must submit a personal statement of their future plans.

Selection is based on that essay, academic achievement, and letters of recommendation.
