Beatrice S. Demers Foreign Language Fellows Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of Rhode Island (regardless of age or educational level) and students at colleges in the state who are interested in a program of study in a foreign language.

Requirements
  • This program is open to 1) residents of Rhode Island who are undergraduates, graduate students, professors, educators, or other persons of any age; and 2) residents of other states enrolled as students at Rhode Island colleges and universities.
  • Applicants must be interested in studying a foreign language at a school in the state; preference is given to applicants proposing to study at the University of Rhode Island.
  • Selection is based on the applicant's dedication to foreign language learning; the likelihood that the proposed program of study will promote a high level of foreign language fluency; and the extent to which the award will promote a diversity of languages studied, program types, and individuals receiving fellowships.
