Buffalo Post SAME Member-Sponsored Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area of New York who are relatives of members of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Buffalo Post and interested in studying a field of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) at a college in any state.

Requirements

This program is open to seniors at Buffalo Public or charter schools or Niagara Falls Public schools who are relatives of a Buffalo Post SAME member or sustaining member.

Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited college or university in any state and major in a field of STEM. Along with their application, they must submit 1page essays on 2 of the following topics: 1) an experience from their life and how it has influenced their development; 2) a person or persons they admire and why; 3) a cause or charitable group they support and why; or 4) anything else the sponsor should know about them.

Selection is based on those essays, academic record (including the nature of the course load), extracurricular activities, community service, and employment history.
