The California Youth Leadership Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors who are the children of California peace officers and are interested in studying any field at a college.

Requirements

This program is open to seniors graduating from high schools in California who are the children or wards of active or retired peace officers, as defined under California Penal Code Section 830.

Applicants must be planning to enroll fulltime at a recognized postsecondary educational institution in the state.

They must have volunteered for at least 16 hours of verified community service and submitted an essay of 500 to 600 words on the importance of community service and how it affects the community as a whole.

Selection is based on that essay, citizenship, and leadership.
