Requirements

This program is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are high school students in grades 10-12 or students, including nontraditional students, currently enrolled at a 2- or 4-year college, university, or vocational/trade school.

Applicants must submit a 250word essay on 1 of the following topics: 1) their educational goals; 2) how winning this scholarship will help them attain their goals; 3) a time when "hard work" paid off, or 4) their experience with community service and volunteering and how that has affected them and their outlook.

Selection is based entirely on the content of the essay; winners are selected on the basis of commitment to using education to better their lives and that of their family and/or community.

Financial needs, grades, and test scores are not considered.
