The FHPA Minority Scholarship offers financial assistance to students of historically underserved populations who plan to enter a career as a harbor pilot. Undergraduate students currently enrolled in a maritime academy, pursuing a degree in the shipping industry are encouraged to apply. Special consideration is given to students planning for a career in Florida.

Seeking a bachelor's degree in the shipping industry

Attending one of the following maritime academies: Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Maine Maritime Academy, S.U.N.Y. Maritime College, California Maritime Academy, Texas A&M University at Galveston, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy – Kings Point, or Great Lakes Maritime Academy

Planning to pursue a career as a state harbor pilot

Historically underserved population

Completed firstyear sea-term Preference is given to students planning for a career in Florida.
