The Judith Markelz Scholarship is available to current or former service members who were ill, wounded, injured, or deceased while on active, reserve, or national guard service status, who received medical treatment at any military facility in the Joint Base San Antonio/Fort Sam Houston system area or their family members.

Requirements
  • Current or former service member who was ill, wounded, injured, or deceased while on active, reserve, or national guard service status, who received medical treatment at any military facility in the Joint Base San Antonio/Fort Sam Houston system area or their family member
  • Minimum 2.5 high school GPA or 2.75 college GPA
  • Seeking a professional certificate, associate, or bachelor's degree in the U.S.
  • Participate in community service
  • Demonstrate financial need Preference is given to students who volunteer with a nonprofit that supports the wounded, ill, injured, or deceased service members or their families.
