The Marshall-Motley Scholarship is available to residents in the southern part of the U.S. who plan to seek a law degree. Recipients are expected to participate in the program for 13 years (3 years as a full-time law student, 2 years in a post-law school fellowship, and 8 years practicing civil rights law in the pursuit of racial justice in the southern U.S.)

Requirements

Resident of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Virginia

Law student

Graduated from a college or university with a bachelor's degree

Seeking a law degree fulltime

Planning to pursue a career in Civil rights and racial justice in a Southern State

U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Participation in leadership
