Requirements
  • This program is open to 1) residents of San Diego County, Imperial County, or the Mexican state of Baja California del Norte; and 2) residents of any state enrolled full-time at a college or university in that area.
  • Applicants must be interested in participating in a competition in voice, keyboard, strings, winds, brass, or percussion.
  • Instrumentalists must have reached 16 years of age or be a graduating high school senior, and not have reached 24 years of age.
  • Vocalists must have reached 18 years of age or be a graduating high school senior, and not have reached 32 years of age.
  • All applicants must submit 1) a letter of recommendation from their private music teacher; 2) a short statement of their musical goals, and 3) a transcript of credit from the school they last attended.
  • They must provide a repertoire sheet listing the precise title of all works to be performed at the preliminary auditions.
  • Those works must meet prescribed requirements for each category of the performer.
  • Based on the preliminary auditions, finalists are selected to compete for the scholarship prizes.
  • The application fee is $15.
