Pedro Del Valle Leadership Scholarship provides financial assistance to students who are entering or enrolled at specified Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and interested in joining Navy ROTC to prepare for service as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Requirements

This program is open to students attending or planning to attend 1 of 3 specified HSIs with a Navy ROTC unit on campus.

Applicants may either apply through their local Marine recruiter for a 4year scholarship or be nominated by the professor of naval science at their institution and meet academic requirements set by each school for 2- or 3-year scholarships.

They must be U.S. citizens between 17 and 23 years of age who are willing to serve for 4 years as activeduty Marine Corps officers following graduation from college.

They must not have reached their 27th birthday by the time of college graduation and commissioning; applicants who have prior activeduty military service may be eligible for age adjustments for the amount of time equal to their prior service, up to a maximum of 36 months.

The qualifying scores are 1000 composite on the SAT or 22 composites on the ACT. Current enlisted and former military personnel are also eligible if they will complete the program by the age of 30.

After completing the program, all participants are commissioned as second lieutenants in the Marine Corps Reserve with an 8year service obligation, including 4 years of active duty. Current military personnel who are accepted into this program are released from active duty and are not eligible for active-duty pay and allowances, medical benefits, or other active-duty entitlements.
