Sonlight Scholarship provides financial assistance for college to home-schooled students who have utilized Sonlight Core programs.

Requirements
  • This program is open to high school seniors and current college students who have been home-schooled and used at least 5 Sonlight Core programs for at least 3 years.
  • Applicants must submit 1) measures of academic performance, such as the ACT or SAT scores; 2) a list of extracurricular activities; 3) a 2page personal essay on how their future plans and aspirations fit in with the purposes of God (including references to seeking God's Kingdom, asserting the crown rights of King Jesus, and how their future plans or purposes will help extend His Kingdom); 4) a 3-page project (e.g., review, digest, portfolio) on mathematics, science, performing arts, or visual arts discipline of interest or concern to them; and 5) a 3-page argumentative essay on a topic of their choice.
  • For some of the awards (which the sponsor designates as the "Green Criteria"), the selection is based on these factors in the following order: missionmindedness or acts of kindness; spiritual-mindedness; creativity; leadership; academic performance; heart for learning; and activities and interests.
  • For other awards (which the sponsor designates as the "Blue Criteria"), the selection is based on the same criteria but in the following order: academic performance; spiritualmindedness; leadership; creativity; mission-mindedness or acts of kindness; heart for learning; and activities and interests.
  • For at least 2 of the "Blue Criteria" scholarships, priority is given to applicants with mathematics or science backgrounds.
  • Students indicate on their applications the criteria by which they wish to be judged.
