Requirements
  • This competition is open to FFA members in Texas in 6 divisions: 1) students in grades 7-8 who compete as individuals; 2) students in grades 9-10 who compete as individuals; 4) students in grades 11-12 who compete as individuals; 4) students in grades 7-8 who compete in teams of 2; 5) students in grades 9-10 who compete in teams of 2; and 6) students in grades 11-12 who compete in teams of 2.
  • Applicants must have conducted a research project and prepared a scientific report and display for judging.
  • Entries are selected in the following categories: animal systems (study of small animals, aquaculture, livestock, dairy, horses, and/or poultry); environmental and natural resource systems (study of the management of soil, water, wildlife, forests, and air as natural resources and their influence on the environment); food products and processing systems (study of product development, quality assurance, food safety, production, sales and service, regulation, and compliance within the food science industry); plant systems (study of plant life cycles, classifications, functions, structures, reproduction, media, and nutrients); power, structural, and technical systems (study of agricultural equipment, power systems, alternative fuel sources, and precision technology); and social systems (study of human behavior, including agricultural education, agribusiness, agricultural economics, agricultural communication, agricultural leadership, and other social science applications in agriculture, food, and natural resources.
  • An entry fee of $50 must accompany each registration form.
