The VVA Detroit Chapter #9 Descendants of Vietnam Veterans Scholarship is offered to students who are between the ages of 16 and 30 and are natural or adopted direct lineal descendants of a qualifying Vietnam veteran. Special consideration is given to descendants of Vietnam Veterans who are/were members of VVA Detroit Chapter #9 for a minimum of five years and who demonstrate financial need.

Requirements
  • Descendent of an Armed Service Vietnam veteran
  • Resident of the U.S.
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree full or parttime
  • Planning to attend school in the U.S.
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or approved refugee
  • Aged 16 to 30
  • Demonstrate academic achievement Students who are incarcerated or who have been convicted of a felony involving an assault causing physical injury or death are not eligible to apply. Preference is given to descendants of Vietnam Veterans who are/were members of VVA Detroit Chapter 9 for a minimum of five years and who demonstrate financial need.
