The VVA Detroit Chapter #9 Descendants of Vietnam Veterans Scholarship is offered to students who are between the ages of 16 and 30 and are natural or adopted direct lineal descendants of a qualifying Vietnam veteran. Special consideration is given to descendants of Vietnam Veterans who are/were members of VVA Detroit Chapter #9 for a minimum of five years and who demonstrate financial need.

Requirements
  • Descendent of a U.S. Armed Service Vietnam veteran
  • Resident of the U.S.
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree full or parttime
  • Planning to attend school in the U.S.
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or approved refugee
  • Aged 16 to 30
  • Demonstrate academic achievement Students who are incarcerated or who have been convicted of a felony involving an assault causing physical injury or death are not eligible to apply. Employees of the Foundation, members of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, and their dependents are ineligible for scholarship consideration. Preference is given to descendants of Vietnam Veterans who are/were members of VVA Detroit Chapter 9 for a minimum of five years and who demonstrate financial need.
