Westchester County Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 49 Scholarship provides financial assistance to the children and grandchildren of veterans in Westchester County, New York who plan to attend college in any state.

Requirements
  • This program is open to seniors graduating from high schools in Westchester County, New York, and planning to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school in any state.
  • Applicants must be the child or grandchild of an activeduty service veteran; service in the National Guard or Reserves does not qualify unless the veteran was activated for more than 90 days for purposes other than training.
  • The service does not have to have been during the Vietnam era.
  • Selection is based on 1) class rank; 2) SAT scores; 3) a resume of extracurricular activities (including school clubs, sports and student government, work experience, volunteer experience, and other interests); and 4) a 2page statement on the effect of their parent's military service on their attitudes toward life and country.
