The Alabama G.I. Dependent Scholarship Program supports the educational goals of dependents and spouses of eligible Alabama military veterans. For dependents and spouses to be considered, veterans will have had a permanent civilian residency for at least 1 year immediately prior to their active service, and at least five years of residency in Alabama prior to the date of the application or the veteran's death. For dependent and spouse consideration, residents of Alabama who are planning to pursue a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree at any state-supported institution in Alabama are eligible to apply.

Requirements
  • Dependent (child, stepchild) of an honorably served/discharged military veteran (minimum 90 days service), **or**
  • Spouse or unmarried widow of an honorably served/discharged military veteran (minimum 90 days service)
  • Resident of Alabama
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree at any statesupported institution in Alabama
  • Aged 25 or younger (child or stepchild only)
  • Veteran must be rated at 40% serviceconnected disability, be a former POW, declared MIA, KIA, or died of a result of a service-connected disability (disability ratings prior to July 31, 2017, can be 20%-30%)
