The Army Emergency Relief (AER) Mrs. Patty Shinseki Spouse Scholarship Program awards need-based scholarships to spouses of Army Soldiers seeking an undergraduate degree. Students who are a spouse of active duty or retired Soldier or the widow(er) of a Soldier who died while on active duty or while retired are welcome to apply. Scholarships will be awarded for up to four academic years for full-time students or eight academic years for part-time students. However, students must reapply each year.

  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Spouse of active duty or retired Soldiers, and widows(ers) of Soldiers who died either on active duty or in a retired status in the Army
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Not a member of the National Guard, Reserves, or another military branch
  • Enrolled in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)
