Requirements
  • This program is open to full-time undergraduate students of any class standing who are actively working on a degree in horticulture at a 4-year college or university.
  • Applicants must be nominated by the chair of the department in which they are majoring; each department may nominate only 1 student.
  • They must submit transcripts, 3 letters of reference, a complete resume and/or vitae, and an essay of 250 to 500 words describing themselves and their commitment to horticultural science.
  • Selection is based on academic excellence in the major and supporting areas of science; participation in extracurricular, leadership, and research activities relating to horticulture; participation in university and community service; demonstrated commitment to the horticultural science profession and related career fields; and related horticultural experiences.
  • Financial need is not considered.
