ASPA Senior Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors in Alabama who are interested in studying journalism at a college.

Requirements

This program is open to seniors graduating from high schools in Alabama who have been involved in journalism for at least 2 years.

Applicants must be interested in attending college to prepare for a career in journalism or mass communications.

Items to be covered in their selfanalytical evaluation include how they feel about journalism, how they got started in the field, what they have had to go through to achieve, what they have contributed to the journalism, and their journalism plans for the future.

Based on those submissions, winners are selected for 4 awards: Journalist of the Year, Broadcast Journalist of the Year, Rick Bragg Award for Feature Writing, and Bailey Thompson Editorial Writer Award.

The winners of those 4 awards are then considered for the J.B. Stevenson Scholarship.
