AWS Tidewater Virginia Section Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of Virginia interested in working on an undergraduate degree in designated fields related to welding.

Requirements

This program is open to students working on an associate or bachelor's degree in welding engineering, materials joining engineering, welding engineering technology, or materials joining engineering technology.

Priority is given in the following order: first to residents of the Tidewater region of Virginia; second to residents of Virginia; and third to students at LeTourneau University.

High school seniors must have a GPA of 2.4 or higher; students already enrolled in college must have a GPA of at least 2.1 overall and 2.3 in their major.

Preference is given to fulltime students, but part-time students are encouraged to apply if they are also working at a job or have other circumstances that prevent them from enrolling full-time.

U.S. citizenship is required.

Financial need is considered in the selection process.

Special consideration is given to applicants who are enrolled in an ABETaccredited program, have a documented working history that includes hands-on welding experience, have completed a high school welding curriculum, or are from a group underrepresented in the welding industry.
