AWS Tidewater Virginia Section Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of Virginia interested in working on an undergraduate degree in designated fields related to welding.

Requirements
  • This program is open to students working on an associate or bachelor's degree in welding engineering, materials joining engineering, welding engineering technology, or materials joining engineering technology.
  • Priority is given in the following order: first to residents of the Tidewater region of Virginia; second to residents of Virginia; and third to students at LeTourneau University.
  • High school seniors must have a GPA of 2.4 or higher; students already enrolled in college must have a GPA of at least 2.1 overall and 2.3 in their major.
  • Preference is given to fulltime students, but part-time students are encouraged to apply if they are also working at a job or have other circumstances that prevent them from enrolling full-time.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Financial need is considered in the selection process.
  • Special consideration is given to applicants who are enrolled in an ABETaccredited program, have a documented working history that includes hands-on welding experience, have completed a high school welding curriculum, or are from a group underrepresented in the welding industry.
