Requirements

This program is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are diagnosed with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or schizoaffective disorder.

Applicants must be receiving medical treatment for the disease and be actively involved in rehabilitative or reintegrative efforts.

They must be interested in pursuing postsecondary education, including trade or vocational school programs, high school equivalency programs, associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, or graduate programs.

Selection is based on the quality of the essay, academic success, 3 references, thoughtfulness, appropriateness of academic and vocational/career goals, rehabilitation involvement, success in dealing with the disease, recent volunteer and/or vocational experience, and completion of application requirements.
