Captain Caliendo College Assistance Fund Scholarship recognizes and rewards, with college scholarships, children of members or deceased members of the U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association (CPOA) or the Coast Guard Enlisted Association (CGEA) who submit outstanding essays.

Requirements
  • This competition is open to children of members or deceased members of the CPOA or CGEA who are attending or planning to attend a college, university, or vocational school.
  • Applicants may not be older than 24 years of age (the age limit does not apply to disabled children).
  • They must submit an essay, up to 500 words, on a topic that changes annually; recently, students were asked whether automatic safety features in automobiles enhance safety or encourage distracted driving and a further erosion of basic driving skill.
  • The authors of essays judged most outstanding receive these scholarships.
