Charlie and Jean Smith Endowed Scholarship provide financial assistance to high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students from any state who are interested in studying applied geophysics or a related field at designated universities.

Requirements

This program is open to 1) high school students planning to enter college in the fall, and 2) undergraduate or graduate students whose grades are above average.

First preference is given to students at Texas A&M University; second to students at the University of Oklahoma; third to students at Stanford University.

If no qualified students from those schools apply, the selection committee may consider students from any school in the United States.

Applicants must intend to work on a degree directed toward a career in applied geophysics or a closelyrelated field (e.g., earth or environmental sciences, geology, geoscience, or physics).

Financial need is not considered in the selection process.
