The DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG) helps pay the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition at public colleges, private colleges in DC, or private historically Black colleges or universities (HBCU) nationwide. Students who are seeking an associate or first-time bachelor's degree are eligible to apply.

  • Resident of the District of Columbia
  • High school graduate
  • Seeking an associate or firsttime bachelor's degree
  • Attending or planning to attend an eligible public college, private college in DC, or a private historically Black college or university (HBCU)
  • U.S. citizen or a nonU.S. citizen eligible for federal financial aid
  • Not in a defaulted status with federal student loans
  • In compliance with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as defined by the college/university of enrollment or accepted enrollment
  • Aged 26 or younger
  • Not exceed the maximum income threshold
