The DEED Educational Scholarship provides financial assistance to students interested in preparing for a career at an electric utility.

Requirements
  • This program is open to high school seniors, high school graduates, and undergraduates currently enrolled full-time at accredited colleges and universities in the United States.
  • Applicants must be preparing for a career related to electric utilities, such as an electric lineworker or utility line technician, power plan technician, electrical power technician, or traditional or renewable power generation technician.
  • They must be sponsored by a publiclyowned utility participating in the Demonstration of Energy-Efficient Developments (DEED) program, which will also provide mentorship about the public utility industry to the student before applying.
  • Priority is given to students working on a degree or certificate in areas that are in short supply and high demand in the public power industry.
  • Selection is based on the goals and aspirations of the student in the electric utility industry, motivation to succeed, service to community and school, and academic ability.
