DGS/Karen Kellogg Shaw Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students from any state who are interested in studying applied geophysics or a related field at a college in north Texas.

Requirements

This program is open to 1) high school students planning to enter college in the fall, and 2) undergraduate or graduate students whose grades are above average.

First preference is given to students at Southern Methodist University; if no qualified students from that school apply, students at other colleges and universities in north Texas or who received their high school diploma from a school in the Dallas Metroplex area and are attending any accredited university are considered; if there are still no qualified applicants, students attending any accredited university in Texas are eligible.

Applicants must intend to work on a degree directed toward a career in applied geophysics or a closelyrelated field (e.g., earth or environmental sciences, geology, geoscience, or physics).

Financial need is not considered in the selection process.
