Frances Bennett Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of Washington who are interested in studying a French-related subject and preparing for a service profession at a college in the state.

Requirements

This program is open to residents of Washington who are either high school seniors or undergraduates at a college or university in the state.

Applicants must 1) demonstrate a passion for the French language and culture in the written application as well as in an interview during which selected applicants are asked to answer a few questions in French; 2) furnish evidence of a satisfactory preparation in French that indicates a lasting interested and successful academic studies in French language and culture; and 3) demonstrate a willingness to be an active member of the SeattleNantes Sister Cities Association after completing their studies.

They must be planning to enter a service profession such as teaching or medicine or have overcome many hardships in order to continue their studies.

Selection is based on transcripts, work experience and participation in and out of school, 2 teacher recommendations, and an essay on how the study of French language and culture relates to their objectives and future goals.
