Golden Gate Chapter ASHRAE Student Scholarship provides financial assistance to student members of the American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) at colleges and universities in designated counties of northern California.

Requirements
  • This program is open to members of ASHRAE student chapters at colleges and universities colleges within the boundaries of the Golden Gate chapter (Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Solano, and Sonoma counties).
  • Applicants may be graduating high school seniors or students already enrolled at a community college, technical school, undergraduate program, or graduate school.
  • They must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an engineering or technical curriculum related to the mechanical, heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R), energy conservation, or systems industry as applied to buildings.
  • High school seniors must submit a 2page essay on what made them interested in such a field, what they plan to study, what they are looking forward to learning about the industry, and the classes, extracurricular activities, or experiences that have piqued their interest in the industry.
  • Other students must submit a 2page essay on why they are interested in a career in energy conservation, indoor environment, or HVAC&R and how their current curriculum is helping them to achieve their goals.
  • For all applicants, essays are the prime consideration in the selection process.
